LEICESTER CITY PROMOTED TO THE $#%#$(@#$#! PREMIER LEAGUE

Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League was confirmed on Friday even as Leeds United fell to Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road by a score of 4-0. The result leaves Leeds on 90 points with one match to play and thus unable to match the Foxes’ tally of 94.

City’s return sees them return to the Premier League after only one year in the Championship. The Foxes lost many key players last summer, including winger Harvey Barnes and attacking midfielder James Maddison. They did good business during the window, bringing in Stephy Mavididi, Harry Winks, and Mads Hermansen, as well as Abdul Fatawu, Callum Doyle, and Yunus Akgun on loan.

The victory also ensures that QPR will remain in the Championship for another year. Rangers had a dream start to the match when Ilias Chair put the London side on top after only 8’. Lucas Andersen added a second on 22’ with an angled shot through traffic that Illan Meslier saw far too late. On 73’, Lyndon Dykes added a third with a near-post header from a corner.

While promotions is confirmed, we still have some work to do to finish top of the league. Ipswich Town are 5 points back with 3 to play while we have only 2 matches remaining. The Tractor Boys would finish on 98 points if they were to win out, so the Foxes would need a win and a draw to ensure finishing top. But, honestly? None of that matters. We’re back in the Premier League.

Where we belong.
