PHILIPP LAHM CRUSHES THOMAS TUCHEL FOR THE DAMAGE HE’S DONE AT BAYERN MUNICH

Bayern Munich are, surprisingly, at the same time not surprisingly, still without a coach that will succeed Thomas Tuchel who will depart in the offseason. The 50-year-old had proved to be a polarizing figure in Munich and has caught flak for the damage he has done to the squad. Philipp Lahm, former Bayern and Germany captain, joins in and attacks the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

“The entire situation at FC Bayern has been ‘not easy’ in recent years,” Lahm explained (Bild am Sonntag via Tz). “Continuity at all levels is extremely important. That wasn’t there: no stability, no peace. There has been unrest for years — from the management to the coach. Many transfers were made that were not successful.”

The lack of stability was the one thing that Lahm was criticizing Tuchel for.

“Now, at the very end, things are starting to come together: Neuer, de Ligt, Dier, Kimmich, Goretzka, Musiala and Kane are on the field in every important game. That’s seven players plus Sané, if he’s fit, who are set. Far too little work has been done on this. No team can be created like that!”
